Italian "dandelion" ID'd by Oron as Taraxacum officinale

The countryside around us is full of this tiny yellow composite in the early spring but I have never seen it in such profusion as this year after a very wet late winter early spring. Now the sunshine and rising temperatures have brought it into flower everywhere. I have never discovered exactly what it is - the locals call it a dandelion but it is not the dandelion I know!

Carole,
a photo of the leaf is needed in order to identify it 100%, i supose it is Taraxacum megalorrhizon.

Seems more like Taraxacum officinale.

Thanks Oron, every year when the countryside around us is lit up with yellow fields and roadside verges, I have been meaning to find out the name of this plant and now, after 15 years, you have given me an answer
