I hope that you have been able to include some hoop petticoats in your new porcupine-free garden, Carole!
Here's another seedling in flower now - it's from 'Julia Jane' and has quite a large flower at 5cm across!
cheers

Yes, I introduced some with varying degrees of success- last year was poor so I am hoping for an improvement this year after our baking hot summer😊

They make me dream of cooler days. Thank you Fermi.
And we are just seeing more sun and slightly warmer weather!
Here are a few more daffs:
1) Narcissus 'Bittern'
2) Narcissus 'Rapture'
3) Narcissus 'Taztep'
4) Narcissus 'Tête-à-tête' - though few are "double headers" - does that make the rest just "Têtes"?
5) Narcissus hispanicus - originally received as two bulbs - one seems to be a bit taller,
cheers

Lovely to see these spring bulbs as we continue to swelter - I suppose when we are enjoying them I shall be longing for warmer days.... perverse creatures aren't we?😊

Forms of Narcissus tazetta do really well in Australian gardens but most Aussies call them jonquils! >:(
Probably because true jonquils need cooler conditions so the tazettas usurp their position in gardens here.
Friends were getting rid of a huge number of narcissus last summer and we got bucket-loads from them, mostly tazettas. We potted up a lot,

Most Narcissus start off well for me but over the years they disappear. An exception is this minute-flowered N. jonquilla subsp willkomii. I had the same number of bulbs last spring as I did when I started with them several years ago. I also have a variety called N. jonquilla 'Baby Moon' (last photo) which seems to have more rounded petals. I bought that 2 years ago. Let's see if that is as resilient. I am looking forward to seeing them next spring. How I wish we could skip the necessary winter for that to happen though!
I have a small garden in Rome, Italy. Some open soil, some concrete, some paved. Temperatures in winter occasionally down to 0°C. Summer temperatures up to 40°C in the shade. There are never watering restrictions but, of course, there is little natural water for much of June, July and August.

Hi David,
have you tried any of the tazettas?
I think they tolerate the heat better than a lot of the other narcissus.
Here's one of the hybrid jonquils whose label has gone missing!
