A PLANT-HUNTING TRIP TO MOUNT PARNASSOS
By Olivier Filippi
I quote

‘The ancient ruins of Delphi are a wonderful rock garden'

I don't have any photos of wild flowers from Delphi but some photos  of the plants mentioned from all over Greece

First a postage stamp issued by the Greek postal authority in 2016 depicting
Cistus creticus,
then a photo from Ancient Corinth of Euphorbia characias.
A photo of Euphorbia dendroides taken on the island of KEA while on an excursion organized by  THE MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN SOCIETY.
Medicago arborea seen in the National Gardens in Athens.
Pistacia lentiscus at Sounion.
Sarcopoterium spinosum at the Old Port, Lechaion.
Phlomis fruticosa on Mount Taygetus seen on a  MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN SOCIETY excursion organized by members based in or near  Sparta.
Sternbergia lutea, in Corinth, pushing through the dried mud after the plot of land had been flooded. The plot is still empty but the Sternbergia have disappeared.
A photo of some very bedraggled Sternbergia in Kastoria

BUCHUS TO THE FUTURE
By Tim Longville

I quote
Quote
Buchus is in fact a word from the Koikhoi language (singular bucha, plural buchus) commonly used in South Africa to describe those smaller shrubby members of the Rutaceae family which have pleasantly scented leaves when touched, rubbed or crushed

Not having any photos of these plants or even postage stamps I resorted to scanning the two drawings used to illustrate this article.

The drawings illustrating this article are reproduced from Kirstenbosch Horticultural Notes nos. 26 and 45 on Agathosma crenulate and Coleonema aspalathoides, with the generous permission of the National Botanical Institute of South Africa.

A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Explaining that the house she lived and worked in had suffered some earthquake damage and that she would need articles for the journal to reach her earlier.

The drawing of the house on the opposite page is by Karolos Merlin.
