THE CORREAS
By Pierre Cuche

A genus native to Australia and Tasmania. There are eleven ten different species and all seem to be suitable for Mediterranean gardens.

The article is illustrated with a drawing of Correa backhousiana by Derek Toms.

Although there is one mentioned as growing at Sparoza I don't remember having seen it.

CERATONIA SILIQUA L.
By Sabina Rossini Oliva

All you want to know about Carob trees.
A stamp issued by Cyprus in 1955 depicting a Carob tree and seed pod.
A photo of some red, possibly male flowers, but I am no expert.
A photo of the flowers growing out of the trunk
A photo of yellow flowers and an insect, possibly female flowers.
Some seed pods on the tree.
A Carob tree in front of the Court House in Corinth. The tree suffered some damage with the snow which we had a couple of years ago.
The same tree and a statue from a different viewpoint.
The statue, also in front of the Court House, is of Damaskinos who was Bishop of Corinth from 1922 until 1938. Subsequently he was Archbishop of Athens from 1941 to 49. He was also regent of Greece between 1944 and 1946.
No post about the Carob tree should be without a photo of the seed pods. I discovered a Carob tree, quite by accident, in the church yard and collected these fallen seed pods.

IN CONSIDERATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT
By Derrick Donnison- Morgan

An article about avoiding using chemicals to deal with diseases and insects.

I quote
“With most pests and diseases, the commonest cause is lack of good hygiene. Clearing leaves and debris to stop overwintering of diseases and pest larvae is paramount”

Two photos of the Geckos on our balconies, I think they eat any flying insects which come their way.

WHAT IS MEDITERRANEAN ?
By William Grant

An article about a garden the author saw in Australia.
He ends by saying, I quote
Quote
‘I need some help from readers about this. We use the term ‘Mediterranean’ rather loosely in California.’

I think the discussion is still going on.

Not having a garden, I enjoy the natural garden Greece provides between February and May
Here are some photos from various places in the Peloponnese taken in  Springs past
