MEDITORIAL by Caroline Harbouri

Hollyhocks are mentioned in the MEDITORIAL

There used to be a row of Hollyhocks along a path between two houses, here in Corinth. Unfortunately, the plants are no more but I had snapped them for posterity

No garden but two balconies, one facing south and the other north.
Most of my plants are succulents which need little care

In the article the author is trying to decided just how many fig trees she should keep in her garden

I seem to have many photos of fig trees scattered round my computer
This collection includes a fig tree growing out of a wall
A fig tree in a ruined house
A fig tree by the side of the road, the figs were ripe but out of reach.
Figs on a plate
A bare fig tree in the winter
And two photos from 1979. The children had been taught at school that figs are produced in large quantities at Kalamata so we were thrilled to see this farmer drying his produce in the sun. I was going to give the second photo the title
NOT A PLASTIC BOX IN SIGHT but now I see there is one

We were lucky enough to see this tree in Madrid at the end of March in 2018  in the Palacio de Cristal de la Arganzuela, A heated greenhouse at the Madrid Rio Park. Here are the photos from that visit.

A DATABASE OF PLANT NURSERIES
FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN SOCIETY MEMBERS
By Duncan Ackery & Hamish Warren

I don't know how relevant this database effort is now, 25 years on, when such information seems to be readily available on the Internet
