What am I? Mysterious seeds
« on: February 03, 2022, 01:13:22 PM »
Hope I got your attention with the headline  ;)
I picked these seeds last year in Croatia and can't remember what plant it was. Don't have a clue why and in what context they were.

Just planted some of them here at home and they are starting to take of. What plant do you think it is?

Fork for reference of the size.

I'd think so. We grew it a lot when I was a kid. I think dad had an idea of making his own castor oil! ::)
cheers

I feel confident now that it is Ricinus, case closed.

Hi Jaken,

Remember that castor oil seeds are highly toxic to humans. Keep children well away.

I have a small garden in Rome, Italy. Some open soil, some concrete, some paved. Temperatures in winter occasionally down to 0°C. Summer temperatures up to 40°C in the shade. There are never watering restrictions but, of course, there is little natural water for much of June, July and August.
