Rhododendron x obtusum

A Rhododendron bush we saw flowering in Royal Botanic Garden Madrid at the beginning of April 2018

I despaired of coming across an article which mentions Rhododendron which I had already not ‘used’ then I came across this one.

In the article I read
Quote
“ However, the following acid-loving plants are not recommended for treatment: rhododendrons, azaleas, heathers, cranberries and blueberries”

Since we are not going on our planned trip to Madrid, I will be posting yet more photos taken in the Royal Botanic Garden Madrid, April 2018

Rhododendron hippophaeoides ‘Inshriach’

Inshriach House is near the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.
I would have liked to find some interesting information about how this Rhododendron got its name but was not able to find anything

I was pleased to come across an article I had not ‘used’ before mentioning Rhododendron

They are such lovely flowers Hilary. I remember seeing  lots in Yorkshire years ago. They were most impressive.

Hilary, Rhododendron hippophaeoides is flowering at the moment in our Sussex garden, a paler form than that one of yours in Madrid. And always flowers on bare branches for us.
