Smart irrigation controller - your experiences, please!
« on: April 19, 2020, 10:03:13 PM »
This is effectively a continuation of this thread - http://www.mgsforum.org/smf/index.php?topic=2755.0

This time last year, I went through the process of thinking:
1. my present irrigation system is not good enough
2. what modern smart irrigation controllers are there?
3. bugger - they all get bad comments (just a few would be expected, but there seemed to be a few too many)
4. I will have to keep my old one

Well, it is that time of the year again, and I still need a new controller; and now I need to control extra zones (six in total).
I want one that I can control from my smart phone, via my local network at home.

So dear forum inhabitants, do you have any experiences to share, good or bad, about smart irrigation controllers such as made by Rachio / RainMachine / Orbit / Gardena / Aifro / BlueSpray / IrrigationCaddy / GreenIQ / Lono / Solem / etc.?
...Or controllers based on Raspberry Pi or Arduino?
I know there are reviews online, but I am looking for your views.
