Waterlogged Pineapple Broom
« on: June 21, 2019, 12:43:40 PM »
Hello
I have a large Pineapple Broom in my garden.  It has beautiful blooms and smells divine.
Following the recent flooding in my home town of Lincolnshire, the tree is looking very unhappy with drooping leaves.
Do you think there is any chance of survival and should I feed the tree?
Thank you - any advice much appreciated.
Sharon

Definitely don't feed it for the moment, Sharon. The flooding may or may not have damaged at least some of the roots, perhaps badly, but also the plant may be drooping as your water table is probably still high enough to be starving its deeper roots of oxygen. Either way, feeding it won't help. But anything you can do do help dry out the soil around it would be a big help - perhaps by digging a temporary drainage channel well clear of the plant, if you can.
