Is this Symphytum bulbosum?
« on: April 01, 2019, 10:26:53 AM »
I saw this in a park in Milan  growing in great patches under trees in partial shade. I took a cutting which, as you can see, is still in its pot. I am hoping it will green a shady area in my garden. It seems to die back in the summer though. Any information anybody may have would be gratefully received. Perhaps it needs water in summer to keep it going?
I have a small garden in Rome, Italy. Some open soil, some concrete, some paved. Temperatures in winter occasionally down to 0°C. Summer temperatures up to 40°C in the shade. There are never watering restrictions but, of course, there is little natural water for much of June, July and August.
