Hi again,

We have quite a number of these prickly Junipers around and my first thought was Juniprus oxycedrus but the more I look at them the less certain I am. They seem to look closer to J. navicularis but even then I'm not so sure. They seem to be very thin and wiry and even on the larger trees they are more shrub like with thin trunks.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Jay,

I would say Rhamnus lycioides subsp. borgiae .
It is usualy a species that grows quite flat on rocks. This one probably germinated in the garden therefore has this upright habit.

Thank you for that, it would appear to be correct.
The berries are what threw me.
