Tamarix street tree in Alicante - which species?
« on: August 23, 2017, 10:04:24 AM »
Hi all,

Everyday we drive past these trees and I have not known what they are, for a couple of years now this has been bugging me so wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction please.

The trees in question are the ones closest in the picture.

Is it possible it could be a Tamarix Gallica?

Tamarix for sure, ID for the species is impossible without checking closely the flowers.

Thanks Oron, to be honest this photo is a screen shot from google street view so I may not be able to stop for a closer pic. The flowers are a light creamy white/dull yellow sort of colour.
I'm happy enough with just Tamarix sp. but if I can get a better pic I will share.
