MGS Sardinia trip

On the recent MGS trip to Sardinia we were treated to more than a tour of some excellent gardens and stunning landscapes with their associated wildflowers. In Cagliari we had grandstand seats to view the annual parade in honour of Sant Efisio, with flowers being strewn from the back of carts drawn by enormous oxen being just a small part of the proceedings. Then when we arrived in Olbia it was to discover it also in festival mode to welcome the riders in the Giro d'Italia cycle race. The colour of the leader's jersey in this event is pink and the whole city and surrounding district had taken on this hue, everywhere was bright pink.

Love the green bycicles John and of course they are " green" in more ways than one ....although all the service and media cars that follow cycle races rather negate that. The Giro d'Italia passed through our local town last year and pink decorations were everywhere I remember.

Ranunculus aquatilis grows prolifically in the seasonal ponds in the Giara di Gesturi, providing favourite eating for the wild horses that browse the area.
