Colletia paradoxa

I received this Colletia from a nursery in Switzerland. I read it is rare. Personally I've never seen it anywhere, except its cousin C. armata at the botanic garden in Geneva. I was thrilled to see it blossom on my balcony (photo), which is a delight that's on its 5th week now... light perfume of vanilla and liquorice.

Just given it a Google. Looks like a useful mediterranean garden plant. i wonder why it's so rare. Was it very expensive?

I received it as a present and I don't know its price. Useful as a curiosity plant I'd say. But its spines are harmful so you'd keep it away from children and pets. I'd say that its relative, C. armata, is more dense and can be useful for creating a protective hedge. I tried to grow it from seeds but was unsuccessful : (
