Unknown Solanum shrub ID'd by Oron as S. linearifolium
« on: October 23, 2016, 03:10:43 PM »
I was visiting someone and they had this shrubby solanum with striking purple flowers growing in their garden.
I asked for a piece to try as a cutting.
The foliage is not the same as Solanum laciniatum, our native "Kangaroo Apple",but I wonder if it is Solanum aviculare?
Anyone care to guess?
cheers

Thanks, Oron, I'm sure you are correct.
It appears to be an East Coast endemic but rare in Victoria - and not found in our area so must've been introduced as a garden plant.
I hope it will strike from the cuttings I've received
