Thanks to Hinterland I have identified my first orange cactus. Here is a second which has a similar flower but different looking spines. All help welcome.

I have a small garden in Rome, Italy. Some open soil, some concrete, some paved. Temperatures in winter occasionally down to 0°C. Summer temperatures up to 40°C in the shade. There are never watering restrictions but, of course, there is little natural water for much of June, July and August.

Thanks again Hinterland :). But now you have set yourself up for a thousand more cacti questions from me! You'll wish you had never replied to these emails ;)

UUpppps! :D Unfortunately I don't have a garden but a glassed-in balcony with a small cacti and succulent collection, all grown from seed, so I know a little bit about them. For Med plants I go to hills round about Dubrovnik!
