Can anyone please identify the attached?

The seed pods are about 2cm in diameter, like tiny tomatoes in shape, the stem is about 70cm high. There were plenty in the clearings in 70-year-old regenerated pine forest. A kniphofia or Liliacea? I collected 4 of the pods -- are they germinate-able?

Seen yesterday, 24 April 2016, at about 700m altitude, in the mountains behind Malaga, Andalucia.

So many other beautiful wildflowers too, in spite of the dry, dry winter and spring: lavender, salvias, cistus, sweet peas...

Must be an asphodel, A. aestivus probably. We cut the seed heads off because this is a terrible spreader. It came to my wild patch a few years ago and has already made a bigger stand than I'd like.

Need to correct the ID.
It is Asphodelus albus which is common in the Iberian peninsula.
A good way to tell them apart is that A. albus has a non branched flowering stem.
It is much less invasive than A. aestivus and can be grown in much shadier conditions as well.

Thank you very much, Oron -- A. alba it must be then: the flower stems were definitely all unbranched. I'd like to try germinating the seeds I collected, so it's good to know it's not quite such a thug!
