We grow the small flowered form of this species which is extremely hardy and elegant. This selection has much bigger flower and a subtle but nice scent. Though the flowers are striking they are unfortunately short lived. If you are lucky and the flowers set seed there is a much longer display of colour when the capsules open to reveal the brilliant red fleshy coated seeds. This is often then followed by the leaves producing good autumn colour.
