May I introduce myself as "riverplants", a new Forum member. A few years ago I was given a small tree which came labelled as
Adansonia za (a baobab from Madagascar). I kept it in the same pot for a year. As always, we had some light frost that winter, so I was surprised that in spring it sprouted vigorously and showed no apparent damage. I decided to make room for it in the open garden, planting it in a well-drained, gritty and very sunny spot. The second year it was damaged by wild rabbits, so I protected it against them, and now show it here after five years. I'd encourage everyone with a benign Mediterranean climate to grow this tree. (
