I should be grateful for any advice about growing Coriander in our garden in Milos in the Cyclades Greece. Many recipes call for 'bunches' of it but I have only managed a few leaves.

Hi rtk, the trick is to sow it in the autumn or winter. It thrives in the cool wet winter here in Adelaide and flowers in the spring. It's very challenging to grow in summer. I manage it in a large pot in a shady spot, never allowed to dry out. Crack the fruit into halves before sowing for better germination. There are two seed per fruit.

We had it growing and going to seed a year ago in one vegetable bed which had to be moved as tree roots had invaded it. The soil was dug out and barrowed to the new site during autumn and for the last few weeks coriander seedlings have been coming up amongst the other vegetables! I'm glad I didn't weed them out when they first appeared!

Fermi we get volunteer coriander too, along with parsley and dill, all very welcome!

I'll have to post a photo of my Coriander patch when I get outside in daylight next. It's pretty impressive! I might have to sell the damn stuff to the local Thai restaurant. There's more than we could ever use.
