Pine Hawkmoth?
« on: May 15, 2015, 06:44:41 AM »
Spotted this newly emerged moth yesterday - hanging itself out to dry on an early self set sweet pea.
I think it is a Pine Hawkwoth but the marking were very indistinct. Unfortunately the sun was in an awkward position for a really good 'photo although the moth remained motionless as made every effort to capture a clear image.

Spectacular creature, Carole - and I can almost smell that sweet pea! (Here in UK we haven't even planted ours out yet; I was only able to rotovate their bed two days ago, just in the nick of time before a day of heavy rain yesterday)
