Kouris dam

When the Kouris river was dammed in the 1980s the village of Alassa was abandoned to the waters. The village church, being on slightly higher ground, escaped   inundation except in winters of really heavy precipitation. However, time has taken its toll and this morning when we went to see how high the water had risen this year we found that it had eventually collapsed.
