Parasitic plant

On the MGS trip to Morocco in March this parasitic Cistanche phelypaea was photographed in the central island of a dual carriageway outside Agadir Airport. This week I discovered that a handful of these same plants had been found growing in Cyprus, in the vicinity of Akrotiri Salt Lake. To date the only ones ever seen on the island I believe.
Cyprus Branch Head. Gardens in a field 40 m above sea level with reasonably fertile clay soil.
