Mandarins for Breakfast.
« on: December 05, 2014, 04:17:31 PM »
In the spring I bought a small mandarin tree when our local supermarket had a selection of very reasonably priced potted citrus trees on offer. I chose the mandarin because it was a pleasing shape and covered in beautifully perfumed flowers. Many of the flowers set fruit but subsequently most fell off. However 7 hung on to maturity and today we enjoyed the first ripened one. The tree is still outside and looking reasonably healthy as the temperatures here are unseasonably mild. Once it does turn colder I hope to keep it through the winter in the house. I believe the secret is to ensure it has plenty of light to avoid leaf drop......any other tips?
