Hibiscus rosa-sinensis

I sometimes think that, perhaps due to their popularity, the beauty of these plants gets overlooked or taken for granted. We have them dotted around as free-standing shrubs as well as being part of a mixed hedge on one of our boundaries. Mostly they are the standard red but we also have other colours that probably have names. If so I don't know what they are, maybe someone could enlighten me in that respect?
Cyprus Branch Head. Gardens in a field 40 m above sea level with reasonably fertile clay soil.
"Aphrodite emerged from the sea and came ashore and at her feet all manner of plants sprang forth" John Deacon (13thC AD)
