A friend of mine has several of these trees in her garden, not one I am familiar with.  Can you please ID.  Apparently she lost one to disease last year and these also are looking sick, any help would be appreciated.  Two photos attached (I hope)

Pete and Jan retired to le Marche, Italy 20 years ago for a quiet,  sunny life.  Gardening here was a challenge, but we now have a wonderful garden, with an eclectric selection of plants,  including many wild  flowers and orchids of which we are found of.

That is the Cut-Leaf Golden Elder-flower Sambucus nigra Lacinata Aurea. It is deciduous and susceptible to drought and dryness, preferring soils that are always damp and cool. I lost several before I finally found the right spot for it in dapped shade from deciduous trees.
