Echium Candicans turning red
« on: May 04, 2014, 11:40:50 AM »
Last year we planted quite a large echium candicans in a rocky part of the garden. Its growth and flowering have exceeded all expectations, and it has been the star of the garden this year. Just before it finished flowering some of the leaves started to turn red, so we cut the flowering spikes to conserve its strength. However it is continuing to turn red and looks quite sparse in the middle.
I've heard that echium can be short lived but hopefully not this short! Has anyone got any suggestions as to what it needs?
Thanks for any help
