Here is a round-up of events in various Mediterranean Garden Society branches in the next few months. Members from other branches are always welcome. If you are not yet an MGS member but would like to come, get in touch with the branch head concerned anyway - you may be able to attend for payment of a small fee.

Saturday 5 April Plant and seed exchange , Sparoza
The garden at Sparoza will be open from 10.30 to 13.30  for the exchange of plants and seeds (Greece Branch: Frosso Vassiliades, bhgreece@gmail.com, Diane Farr Louis bhgreece@gmail.com).

Sunday 6 April to Sunday 13 April - Crete
 This trip based in Plakias and Omalos will concentrate on wild plants, and will be accompanied by John Fielding, co-author of Flowers of Crete. Early April is the perfect time of year for wildflowers. There will be guided walks and a visit to Phaestos and Gortys. The cost (£472 - £542) includes simple hotels, lunches on most days, and three dinners, but excludes air fares and airport transfers. Accommodation is in simple hotels, though with en suite bathrooms (UK Branch: Heather Martin hma@clara.net).

Tuesday 8 April Early evening talk by Alan Gray – owner of the Old Vicarage garden in East Ruston – in Alhaurin el Grande (Andalucia Branch: Lindsay Blyth 
blyth@daveshelpline.com).

Friday 11 April Imbros Gorge and Ammoudhari – Walks with John Fielding (co-author of Flowers of Crete) and a group of UK Branch visitors to Crete. This is in conjunction with the UK Branch 6-13 April tour mentioned above (Crete Branch: Valerie Whittington val.mgs@gmail.com).

Thursday 24  April, Le Jardin des Sambucs, Saint-Andre-de-Majencoules (30)
This day in the garden of Agnès and Nicholas Brückin will include a garden tour, a talk on water recuperation systems and a talk on wild gardens. Cost will be 25€ per person, including lunch. Friday 25 April Garden visits in Jávea and Teulada – Jan van Eijle will introduce the group to a modern garden where colour is an important feature then Cora and Nick Dekkers will show members their garden on a terraced agricultural plot behind Teulada (Costa Blanca Branch: Edith Haeuser edith.haeuser@gmail.com).

Friday 25 April Nice Botanic Garden – Guided visit (Provence Branch: Carol Connolly mgs.provencebranch@gmail.com, June Grindley nessaconnolly@hotmail.com).

Friday 2 May – Provence garden visits – Morning visit to the new garden of the boutique hotel Domaine de la Baume near Tourtour  (www.domaine-delabaume.com), followed by picnic lunch at the home of Pamela and Angus Mackintosh, then a guided visit to Entrecasteaux Château  (Provence Branch: Carol Connolly mgs.provencebranch@gmail.com, June Grindley nessaconnolly@hotmail.com)

Sunday 4 – Friday 9 May Visit to Granada and Córdoba – Visit to the Alhambra and its Generalife Gardens, which have attracted so many visitors over the centuries, several carmenes and the historic Botanic Garden of the University of Granada. In Córdoba we will have a guided tour of about ten patio gardens. We will also visit the gardens of the Palacio de Viana and the Patio de los naranjos, which belongs to the Mezquita-Cathedral, and the gardens of the Alcazar de los reyes Cristianos. The tour will end with a visit to the botanic garden of Córdoba (Costa Blanca Branch: Edith Haeuser edith.haeuser@gmail.com).

May 8-12 - Trip to South Pelion
Driving by private car, we will spend four nights  at Lagou Raxi Country Hotel,  www.lagouraxi.com situated at the edge of the picturesque and unspoiled village of Lafkos, looking west over the Pagasitic Gulf. The hotel is newly built and owned by MGS members Sue Wake and Christian Lafaucheux who have offered accommodation at special MGS rates and Sue has used her considerable expertise, in-depth knowledge of the area, and acquaintance with many garden owners nearby to put together a fabulous five- day itinerary with garden visits, wildflower walks, taverna lunches, a picnic, and many other treats (Greece Branch: Frosso Vassiliades, bhgreece@gmail.com, Diane Farr Louis bhgreece@gmail.com).

Saturday 10 May – Eccleston Square, London
Plant writer and expert Roger Phillips will take a group of MGS members round the extensive gardens, which include the National Collection of Ceanothus (UK Branch: Heather Martin hma@clara.net).

Tuesday 13 May Talk on Morocco – by Branch Head Lindsay Blyth – in the Bar Peñita Restaurante, Alhaurin el Grande (Andalucia Branch: Lindsay Blyth

Tuesday/Wednesday 20/21 May - Sillans-la-Cascade (83)
Two days in the Var with Benoit and Isabelle Beauvallet
This trip will start at 11.00am on Tuesday with a visit to L’Armalette, their nursery and demonstration garden, http://www.pepiniere-armalette.fr followed by a visit to a private garden selected by Benoit. On Wednesday, Benoit will lead a group of those happy with hill walking for an excursion to look for wildflowers in the mountains around Moustiers-Sainte-Marie (Languedoc Branch: Christine Savage cs.savage@btopenworld.com).

Thursday 5 June - Ménerbes (84)
A visit to a member’s garden in Ménerbes. This visit will be limited to 25 participants (Languedoc Branch: Christine Savage cs.savage@btopenworld.com).

Tuesday 30 September – Monday 6 October
Trip to Mallorca,  with a lot of private gardens and some parks or natural surroundings (German-Speaking Countries Branch: Maria Sansoni info@floramediterranea.de)
