Fischer's lovebirds and a grey form of peach-faced lovebird (Agapornis spp.)

We have become hosts to some love birds!



They are mainly Fischer's love birds (Agapornis fischeri) (the colourful ones, as in the photo above) but there is at least one grey one, which appears to be a grey form of the peach-faced love bird, A. roseicollis (photo below).



They are not native to Cyprus, and their nearest native range is sub-Saharan Africa, so they must be escapes/releases from captivity. Nonetheless, they are colourful additions to the denizens of our garden.

Fascinating! (And much more welcome than the ringneck parakeets which are seriously expanding the area of their garden depradations in southern England as well as in many other European countries....)
