These are the last two photos I have of plants from Jordan.
The small ornamental tree was in a bathing place on the Dead Sea, at dusk.
The Acacia like tree was near the Roman Theater in Amman on a very windy day

Hi Hilary,
The first one is Albizia, though I can't be sure of the species.
Albizia julibrissin (Persian silk tree) is perhaps the best known.

Hi Hilary,
I hate to contradict Mike but I believe your 1st photo is Leucaena leucocephala (syn. Leucaena glauca).  This is considered to be a pernicious weed in many countries as it suckers freely and produces a multitude of seeds that germinate easily and stay viable in the ground for years.
Regards,
John J

Hi Hilary (again),
Sorry but I sent off my reply before I'd finished (I'm new at this game!). Your second picture is of a plant that is sold here in Cyprus as a species of Jatropha although I have been unable to identify the particular one.

John and Mike,
Thanks for all the ideas.
The tree in Amman looks more like Leucaena glauca than Albizia.
As you say the tree at the Dead Sea might be jatropha.
Interested to read that we will be running our cars on its oil in future.

I second John, the tree is Leucaena leucephala which is terribely invasive in the Jordan Valley,
the large shrub is Jatropha integrrima that we have discussed in another thread.

Thank you all.
That seems to be my "unidentified plants in Jordan" sorted.
