Well done, Annie! The amazing Tree Fuchsia,
Fuchsia excorticata
, which we saw in New Zealand, particularly in the forests on the slopes of Mount Taranaki (Mount Egmont), North Island.

Lovely picture of New Zealand Bush Alistair. Very typical . I am really surprised to hear of a tree fuschia with trunk of 1 metre.....

No wonder I couldn't guess this one, I have never heard of such a fuchsia.

We saw Fuchsia excorticata in NZ, South Island, in the damp forests of Fiorland National Park, on the slopes of Key Summit.
Flowers can grow directly on the trunk, as shown on the picture.
