What’s this (November 2012)? - now guessed correctly

It’s a long time since anybody sent a ’Guess what’, so I’m posting this one. It shouldn’t difficult to find out, I believe.

Amateur gardener who has gardened in north London and now gardens part of the year on the Cycladic island of Paros. Conditions: coastal, windy, annual rainfall 350mm, temp 0-35 degrees C.

This was obviously too easy and your answer is correct.

Go ahead, John!

The salvias were seen in the hillside above Dubrovnik airport, while Brian and I were waiting for the rest of  you to arrive for the Montenegro trip this spring (incredible number of orchids there as well). The colour was much bluer than any I have seen before of S. officinalis. I should have taken some cuttings, but at least I have the photos.
