A spring break in Portugal?
« on: September 26, 2012, 07:20:52 PM »
Forum members might be interested in the MGS Portugal Branch spring gathering, 1-3 March - especially as it will be held at the Hapimag Albufeira resort, where the ambitious waterwise landscaping is under the care of Forum member Marilyn (who described it in The Mediterranean Garden, no 68).
Topics covered will include invasive plants, plants from other mediterranean-climate zones, and the global contribution of the vast wealth of plants available from the mediterranean flora. The aim is to make us 'think before we plant'.
A most distinguished panel of speakers, headed by famous plantsman Roy Lancaster, includes Jim Gardiner (Director of Horticulture at the Royal Horticultural Society), Dr Elizabete Marchante (who runs Coimbra University's invasive plants project) and Francis Hurst (expert in agricultural biodiversity in the Eastern Mediterranean, and on the conservation of medicinal and aromatic plants).
Please contact forum member Rosie Peddle for more information: rosie@thebtf.net.
