Title: Geranium macrorrhizum 'White Ness'
Post by: John on July 07, 2011, 11:37:23 AM
A pure white flowered form of this Balkan species which I assume arose at the botanic gardens at Ness. In Olivier Filippi's book "The Dry Gardening Handbook" he recommends G. macrorrhizum as moderately drought tolerant for shady situations with reasonable depth of soil. I guess this means woodland conditions.
We saw this species though not quite in flower when we were in the Vikos gorge area of northern Greece. This area is in effect not mediterranean but very close to it!
