Title: Ruscus hypoglossum
Post by: Hilary on March 09, 2023, 07:52:50 AM
Ruscus hypoglossum
I have had this plant for many years and have no idea where I acquired it from, it had probably been thrown into an empty plot. I say this as I also planted some in the narrow strip of ‘garden’ in the backyard of the block of flats.
Mine, constricted in a pot, doesn't look too happy so I will divide it when the weather settles down. The one in the backyard is very large and doesn't mind being in deep shade and under a pine tree. However, the gardeners brought once a year to deal with the processional caterpillars and generally tidy the place up tend to use a hedge cutter on it.
The photos of the flowers are from the plant on the balcony.
The photos of the berries from the plant in the backyard
Then there is a photo of the plant growing in the National Gardens in Athens.
Lastly photos of   Ruscus aculeatus in the Diomedes Botanic gardens, Athens.
