I was walking in the neighbourhood here in L'Alfàs del Pi, Alicante (Spain) and I saw several bushes with large fruits that I have never seen before. I'm not sure if they were climbers or bushes leaning on the fence along the road. The fruits were large (6-7 cm long), some of them turning purple, There were also some dry seed capsules, some of them had seeds attached to long, w.hite, silky fibres.
Does anybody recognize this?

If it is a vine it could be Araujia sericifera the cruel vine or false choko

I think you are right Fermi although mine has never had purple tinged seed pods. It always amazes me that the small white flowers produce such large seed pods. It is a prolific self -seeder
by the way.

Thank you for the identification, Fermi, I'm sure you are right, I think it is a climber as well.

Known here as moth vine, and a menace in native bush. I wage constant war on it, collecting the pods before they ripen, and removing the vines when I can get at them. When cut, the stems bleed a sticky white sap. I've never seen a purple pod, but in all other respects it looks right!
