Title: Ruellia nudiflora?
Post by: David Dickinson on September 01, 2019, 12:28:25 PM
In 2018 I sowed some Ruellia nudiflora seeds. They germinated but none of them got to flowering stage. This year I noticed a plant that I didn't recognise growing in an unmarked pot and it has flowered for me. It looks like the plant shown here http://www.asergeev.com/pictures/archives/compress/2012/1062/25.htm. However, many other photos on the internet show glossier leaves without hairs for this species. I seem to remember that the seeds came from Chantal's seed bank (many thanks, as always, for the work you do for us Chantal). Perhaps the donor of the seeds might recognise the plant?

This too looks like the plant I have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruellia_humilis#/media/File:Ruellia_humilis.jpg. Ruellia humilis and the common name Fringeleaf Wild Petunia might also suggest that this is the plant.
