Title: Difference between Acer platanoides and Acer pseudoplatanus, by Oron Peri
Post by: Hilary on August 24, 2017, 12:04:43 PM
My son M in his attempt at putting names to all the trees in the greater Sparta area sent me these photos.
Does anyone know what they are or do I have to consult the books?

Hi Hilary,

No, they are different species, Acer pseudoplatanus. As you can see the clusters of seeds arranged in different way [elongated like grapes shapein the second] as well as different bark. The size of the leaves is also different but difficult to realize from the photos.
