Title: The last palm
Post by: Charithea on April 24, 2016, 03:15:35 PM
We said goodbye to the last of our palms. I was very fond of this tree as it was given to me as a present by my oldest brother's friend as a tiny  thing. The photos will tell the story. The wounded tree.  The hollowed out trunk, the grubs that were feeding on the tree, the chopped up trunk being inspected by the youngest of our cats, 'Haircut',  and him bored by all the noise and fuss. The pieces will be collected to be burnt on the ' Easter bonfire' on Saturday night 30th April.

Oh dear, you poor things. We're trying to steel ourselves to the likely loss of our two young seed-raised Phoenix theophrastus (seed from Vai on Crete), as palms in the neighbourhood are being killed one by one.
