Title: Rainfall
Post by: pamela on December 06, 2014, 12:22:35 AM
Since January 01 here in our area of the Costa Blanca we have had exactly 229mm of rain.
We were blessed with 12mm this month during 5 days!! The first for months and months........Can anyone  (except those living in the Gobi Desert) do better than that! Feel for me, its a tough life keeping those plants surviving!..... but I think in the Mediterranean basin I might be a hands down winner here. PS I think only parts of Greece or Israel might be contenders for the prize of the least annual rainfall)

Fantastic rain this weekend - 72 mm in total. The roses and callestemon are looking a bit battered but the dust and the ubiquitous cobwebs are gone.

I want to know where our rain has gone too?  Our normal blue sky looks grey and there is dust about but No Rain.

I think your rain popped over here for a weekend away. In the process it wiped out the 3 Salvia clevelandii seedlings I had potted on the day before. The Salvia semiatrata seedlings will probably not survive either! Had I been at home when the downpour occurred I could have maybe saved them but it was not to be :-(

After 5 months with virtually no rain, just the odd shower that did little more than lay the dust, we were  blessed with a good steady downpour yesterday and my efforts to take advantage this morning by pulling some weeds have been thwarted by more. I am not complaining though, everything looked refreshed this morning and the aromatic scents floating about, as I brushed against Salvia leaves, was lovely. Hope you get some soon John and Charithea.....

Wish I could say the same for Rome. I have done a little watering of plants since the middle of August but nowhere near as much as I would normally do. Downpour after downpour after downpour. Rained for 10 or 15 mins yesterday over a couple of hours but there was enough in that space of time to ensure no watering for the rest of the week. Let's see if the forecast is correct for the next week. Rain from Friday to Wednesday :-( And this seems to have affected only Rome for the last couple of months. Other areas of Italy have had much less rain.
