Title: Adapting
Post by: Umbrian on April 25, 2014, 06:20:46 AM
My husband and I have been adapting to living in an urban environment this winter after fifteen years in a very isolated rural one. Luckily we have some green areas close to us and our small garden is frequented by quite a few birds. One of the first things I did was to place a small birdbath in the garden that was quickly discovered with various Tits and Blackbirds queuing up to use it. It is interesting to observe how birds adapt to "town life" - this spring, blackbirds are raising a family of very noisy youngsters in a hole in the wall of the church buildings that form one of our boundaries. I have only ever known Blackbirds to nest in trees or large shrubs before.
