Springtime in Cyprus with the blue of the Jacaranda in competition with the blue of the sky.

Lovely, John (and specially so for me, as Helena and I have never been out at our Greek house at a time to see our own two trees flowering!)

A South African Airlines postcard. Probably from 1964 /5
Jacaranda-time in Pretoria

Brings back memories for me too. Such an intense colour in the streets of Cairo where I lived for a couple of years. I saw a tree just outside Rome last year and got some seeds. I now have 4 baby trees which I will plant out around the city while nobody is looking. I probably won't live long enough to get the benefit but hope that at least one will survive so that somebody will. :)

Hi David, don't worry you will see your trees prosper as they grow very tall quickly and flower quickly too. Our are losing their leaves now and as soon as spring arrives so will the flowers and then the leaves.

Plants and their associations. Whenever I see a jacaranda in flower immediately I become anxious. In my part of Australia jacarandas flowered at exam time and that meant more hours of study. Thirteen three hour papers, how did we survive? Fortunately, a lot of it was plant related and has provided a useful training. I wonder if others have not-so-good feelings about beautiful plants for the wrong reasons.

Unlike Joanna Jacarandas for me bring nothing but good memories - particularly of this great dzong in Bhutan, where even under the coldest greyest clouds they seemed full of light and joy
