Plant growing on a rocky island
« on: December 16, 2013, 10:40:30 PM »
My son has asked me, on behalf of a friend of his, if anyone can identify this plant.
It is growing on a rocky island, I suppose uninhabited,  near the island of Andros.
Has anyone any ideas?

Just a guess:
A member of the Chenopodiaceae, perhaps Atriplex prostrata?

Hilary, Oron's suggestion seems more likely.
It would be nice to have a confirmation if your son and his friend reach a decision.

Alice and Oron,

My son tells me that the people trying to identify the plant on a rocky island near Andros have decided that it is
Atriplex recurva

Many thanks

Thanks for the feedback, Hilary.
I am sure they have much more to go on if they have the plant in front of them.
