Title: Biarum
Post by: John on July 18, 2011, 08:55:49 AM
Biarum davisii is a cute little Biarum from Crete and south west Turkey. Typically speckled with brownish mottling this form is without them and looks quite yellowish. I have it pot grown in my frost free greenhouse in London. I also have other typical forms and one with well spotted leaves.

Here's a slightly more unusual aspect of Biarum the fruits. In this case B. tenuifolium from Rhodes. Often the fruits are difficult to see but show more brightly when the collapse. They can almost be buried in the ground.

Howdy Folks,

Just a quick pic of one of the Biarums flowering down south at present.... this one is Biarum eximium.  Growing in a small pot as you can see, and absolutely loving it!!  ;D

I hope no-one minds a southern hemisphere flowering mixed in with the northerns?  Also a good test for size etc of pics..... this OK for everyone?

Thanks Alisdair.

I also have Biarum tenuifolium in flower now, so I'll try to get a chance to photograph it.  I haven't looked since yesterday, when it looked like it was just starting to open. 8)
