Title: Little shrub with purple flowers ID'd by Oron as Lotus jacobaeus
Post by: violapinnata on October 15, 2013, 03:50:49 AM
I would like to identify this plant I've encountered in a garden of Menton (France) and photographed on September 22. Does anyone recognize it? Thanks in advance, Bruno

The colour combination of near black and grey/green is so attractive - like Salvia discolor. Unfortuantely the MGS seed exchange doesn't have any seed of Lotus jacobaeus.

One I'll have to look out for - it's on our "allowed list" for importing seed - though hopefully someone is already growing it in Australia!
cheers

I saw it last week at Scott Robinson's 'Zephyranthes' nursery at Midlands in Perth, Western Australia. It is definitely on my Wants List.

Unfortunately, this beautiful  Lotus does not grow in my garden. But I can ask the owner of the garden where I saw it if I can have the seeds. If yes I will communicate it in this forum. All the best, Bruno
