In the last month we enjoyed amazing blooming in Mt Hermon.
Tulipa lownei is quite common, but the flower opens only after 14:00, the waiting paid off , hundreds of tulips blooms in the wet zone not far from the melting snow. in the wetter areas Romulea nivalis and gageas bloom. Scattered stemless Allium libani are also common.
We dugged out a bulb of Allium feinbergii and found that is has stem and bulb black bulbils. Sternbergia clusiana at 2200m (the highest in Israel) is fruiting, and at the same altitude we found Bieberteinia multifida, a peculiar plant with a huge tuber, it used to belong to the Geraniaceae but now in its own Biebersteiniaceae family.
Another surprise was the highest Anemone coronaria at 1700m.

Wonderful pictures, Ori, of such interesting plants. (Did you know that in Iran they use the Bibersteinia as a folk remedy for rheumatism relief ;)?)
