This book was a very welcome Christmas present. Although Penelope writes about gardening in the UK with plants unlikely to succeed in the mediterranean climate I found her approach inventive and refreshing. She has gardened seven acres, run a nursery and opened her garden to the public. So she knows how it feels to be short of time. And she has a wonderfully observant eye.
