Hi Alisdair
You don´t deserve another photograph as you saw it in Cindy´s garden.   However if you can´t.........

Pistil's a good thought, but probably not of a lily if Brian did indeed take the picture last week. (I did have a Lilium sulphureum still flowering at the start of the month, but that was really exceptionally late.)
And clincher, there certainly weren't any lilies at Cindy's!

I'd say it's nothing to do with a lily!

Is it a stem? An impatiens perhaps?

Hi Alisdair
I didn´t see any lilies either and I did take the photograph last week.  But sure as eggs are little eggs you saw the plant.

Hi John
As you say nothing to do with a lily and you are certainly on the right track with a stem, though not impatiens.  I was assured that it is unique to this particular species which is in flower right now.
