Title: Opuntia microdasys

Opuntia microdasys, Bunny Ears Cactus, Teddy Bear Cactus

A couple of years ago we redid the built-in troughs on the front balcony as all the plants had got too big for the space allotted to them. We decided to replant everything in pots which could be rearranged, moved around and even given away. I was in two minds about keeping this cactus and in the end decided to put it in an inaccessible corner so that small children or even large adults could not get at it. This year it produced several flowers in June so I decided to get it out of the trough to snap it. As usual I got my hands and wrists covered in the tiny needles.
