Our safflowers are just beginning to open and attract visitors, welcome in the second photo but decidedly not in the third.

This chap comes under the welcome category. Along with several friends who were busily working the newly opened
Melaleuca
flowers.

Whether this character comes under the heading of welcome or not depends on how one feels about being serenaded by a dawn chorus of cicadas. It was busily zizzing away on one of our olive trees.

Saw this character yesterday. Didn't have a chance to find anything to use as a size comparison but I'd guess he was around 10cm long.

Jurassic Park - where's that?
I guess he comes under the welcome category as he seems to be eyeing up that insect on the side of the garage.
